Project Description: Academy Sports + Outdoors enlisted Seeberger Architecture to meet their aggressive goal of two hundred stores by 2015. To meet this challenge, Seeberger has been in the forefront of retail prototype innovation. For optimal locations, Seeberger works closely with Academy’s Real Estate and Construction Departments. These Preliminary Site Assessments have allowed the Architect’s input early on, helping Academy to analyze the suitability, risk, time and cost delta associated with various potential sites. To date, Seeberger has completed twenty stores in twenty cities and five states. As always Seeberger, is looking for new ways to help streamline construction documents, Seeberger has embraced the maintenance and continued evaluation of the Academy prototype documents. Seeberger has assisted in the pilot program of Academy’s new website collaboration tool “Expesite”. Academy’s A/E team and contractors use this tool to organize their aggressive store roll-out. Being responsible for site adapting retail prototypes across the United States is no easy task. The scope includes meeting with local officials, zoning, design review committees and economic development corporations to promote the benefits of an Academy Sports + Outdoors store in their community. With LEED accredited professional on staff, Seeberger participates in periodic reviews on energy and sustainability issues. Seeberger is involved in all phases of the project including site visits and coordination with Academy project managers and contractors. This service ensures the construction process flows smoothly, all the way until “turn over” to Academy’s Fixturing and Merchandising Departments. Once a store opens, our roles reverse and we become the clients. We become the “customer” and take advantage of their nicely designed stores, great products and fantastic prices. |
